DESCRIPTION:
He has spoken to those who operated far behind the Iraqi lines and obtained previously unpublished photographs of their presence there. He has spoken to the soldiers and officers who took part in the SAS' many operations, gaining insight into their activities, philosophy and morale. From the origins of the SAS behind Rommel's lines in the Sahara through the Malayan emergency, the Arabian skirmishes in Oman and Yemen, the debacle in Gibraltar and the regiment's unique role in the Gulf War, Tony Geraghty examines their successes and failures, the different ways successive British governments have exploited their expertise, their training methods and the skills the men acquire. The author includes material on the Falklands campaign, the shoot to kill debate and previously unknown facts of the SAS' activity during the Gulf War. As with the original edition, this is a portrayal of a regiment always on call for the riskier military activities and who occupy a special place in the British Army. To
Doug said Hard men are good to find. An excellent summary of what it takes on the part of those who stand between us and those who threaten our safety - and the lengths they have to go to in order to save the rest of us from ourselves."Love" is hardly the term I would use for a 5-star rating, given the subject, but it deserves it anyway. Five Stars howard Unbelievable!. "Very good" according to Dom88. Very good book, tells various operation about this secretive unit up until the 1980s when the regiment was caught on camera during the Iranian embassy incident. For those who want to know more about the regiment should get this book. As for this being a collectors item, it really is, aside from a little tear on the cover and a mark on one of the pages but I can't really complain. brilliant buy, brilliant seller.
