Outstanding book of Carving projects! Timothy L. Tyler This excellent work by Steve Bisco is a book of woodcarving projects that cover a range from novice to advanced. Some of the projects will allow a new carver to get started on something simple. Other projects are more complex and challenging. As the title indicates, the projects range in a series of periods. The first part of the book discusses general tool requirements and a quick primer of period styles. Then you are off to the projects. Each project includes a pattern, a specific list of tools used on that project, and LOADS of pictures with caption. M. D. Allen said Great book for carving ideas!. Decorative carving is my favorite style, and the examples in Bisco's book are just what I like to carve. Excellent patterns, step-by-step instruction, and photos. The projects build in complexity through the book, with some really challenging projects toward the end. I just finished the St. Ives foliage and have prepared the blank for the Dragon.. A great book if you want to expand your carving abilites Most carving books are at the beginner to intermediate level. This book has something for carvers at every level, even if you just want to look at the pictures. Worth every penny.
GMC has published many of his articles in both Woodcarving magazine and Woodworking Plans & Projects magazine. Steve Bisco is a self-taught hobby carver with 25 years of practical experience.
