DESCRIPTION:
is a fabulous writer--her prose just flows into a beautiful story. I have read all her books and S. Perry Alyson Richman is a fabulous writer--her prose just flows into a beautiful story. I have read all her books and find her settings are very interesting as well as her story lines. The Velvet Hours is well thought out and researched using the apartment in Paris that was left empty for 70 years as the background and the main focus of her story. Since no one knows the true story of the apartment, Alyson created a beautiful story to intrigue us all.. "Excellent Read" according to Lucia. There are several detailed and eloquent five-star reviews for this book. Rather than repeat what has already been said, I thoroughly enjoyed the writing, the story and the characters. I was drawn to this story as it takes place in Paris, my favorite city in the world. This is my first Alyson Richman book and I just ordered The Lost Wife.. Loved the book Loved the book. I have read other books, ie. "The Lost Wife" by this author and loved that book as well. Highly recommended read.
She lives in Long Island, New York, with her husband and two children.. Alyson Richman is the international bestselling author of The Garden of Letters, The Lost Wife, The Last Van Gogh, The Rhythm of Memory, and The Mask Carver’s Son
With Europe on the brink of war, she shares her story with her granddaughter Solange Beaugiron, using her prized possessions to reveal her innermost secrets. As Marthe’s tale unfolds, like velvet itself, stitched with its own shadow and light, it helps to guide Solange on her own path. Inspired by the true account of an abandoned Parisian apartment, Alyson Richman brings to life Solange, the young woman forced to leave her fabled grandmother’s legacy behind to save all that she loved.. Most striking of all are a beautiful string of pearls and a magnificent portrait of Marthe painted by the Italian artist Giovanni Boldini. From the international bestsell
