The main character gave his life over to and served the Lord through helping others find their way to freedom.I would highly recommend it.. This story had me choked up for hours. Expertly crafting a tale of a young boy's maturation process---one that should have never, never happened---McClelland vividly portrays humanity at its worse… and at its best.Through the eyes of a boy, he paints a picture of how easy it is for us to claim title on being the most evil and destructive species on the planet. Yet at the same time, his story illustrates our capacity for unconditional love and redemption unsurpassed elsewhere in nature.This is a story of slavery. And while this one begins and ends on a beach, I fear the story of slavery itself is still in its infancy.This book wi. The beginning was good and gave a lot of character detail, and although perhaps a little too much, you definitely understood the confusion over the circumstances. For me, the book took off once Kimbo reached America, and I was amazed with him at the many sights, sounds and possibilities there were there. Where the beginning was slower and more paced, the pages flew by as he encountered more experiences and obstacles in life. The ending left me wanting more and questioning the whereabouts of a character, but perhaps that was intentional to lead to a second b
