A Must Read for Historical Romance Authors Lyndack Not a quick read, but a thorough and well researched book by an author with a passion for history.Every chapter fascinated me, the women, mostly prostitutes through the ages, are survivors. Arnold has a gift for making the grimmest, ugliest parts of London's brothels and street trade sizzle with details. But it's not entirely about the sex trade either. Her passages detailing Oscar Wilde's exploits are interesting. Though a few passages come off a touch pedantic, TSHoL is a must read for romance auth. IsolaBlue said Cheers!. What could become bogged down and dry, instead stays fresh and lively. Arnold's background as a journalist works well for this book as she writes a good-sized tome that reads as quickly as the best article in our favorite monthly magazine.Cheers for Arnold's feminist sensibility. She boldl. An Informative yet light read Nikki Jimenez The topic of the book itself is interesting and what draws you to start reading. The author's writing style, anecdotal, informative but not academic, is what keeps you turning the pages.
