I just passed the P.I. exam KathyB. I'm thankful to the other three who left reviews of this book and said it was helpful for the P.I exam.I found this book gave a great overall view of the P.I. business and its legal considerations. The scenarios were very enlightening. It mentioned the types of agencies and specific agency names where you would be gathering information. It was a well organized book. The second half is all the code sections which would apply to someone doing P.I. work. This book is a confidence builder for those making the transition from law enforcement or other fields, into the P.I. world.I also studied all the B&P codes, Power to Arr. Craig Olsen said A Must for Those Preparing for the CA PI Exam. If you are preparing to take the California Private Investigators exam, then this book is a must. It breaks down all applicable laws (state and federal) that affect private investigation in California. This is not a dry reprinting of the regulations. David Queen provides examples and intricate details of each section to help clarify what is sometimes very confusing "legal speak". A prime example is the how California views libel and slander - both of which an investigator must be wary. There are subtle exceptions to libel and slander that Queen outlines and provides examples. There are questions on the state exam that . Very helpful reference book this book although not the only study guide available, is perfect for clarifying a number of issues related to the Private Investigations field in California. It is very well written and serves as a good companion text to other study materials which have to be obtained offline.
