Perfect Book for Beginner Trombone/Baritone Players! This item is pretty old, so the recording quality for the samples might be a little chippy. But the music is great, and it gradually progresses in skill level until the end. Really helps start off a young musician's career.. Albiorix said I was pleased with the transcriptions in the book. I purchased this instrumental book primarily for one piece - Concerning Hobbits. I was pleased with the transcriptions in the book, Howard Shore is an excellent composer and the pieces included show off his considerable talents. I have only used the CD which came with the book a few times. While it is enjoyable to play with the "whole orchestra" it is usually more work then I want to put in while I am practicing. I am very happy with the contents of the book. I dinged one star from the product because of the lousy shipping. The book came in a container which bent the book and caus. "" I'm happy to say" according to SodaPops. My son who is a beginning trombone student received this as a gift for Christmas. When he first looked it it he said, "I'll never be able to play it." I'm happy to say, he's able to play through 90% of this book after 7 months! He loves playing with the back tracks and it definitely was a tool to inspire. The CD comes with two tracks per song. One has the trombone playing the melody with the backing orchestra, while the other does not.I would definitely buy more books in this series.
