That was when she touched Rita’s life and Rita befriended her owner, Walt Taylor, a true cattleman and rancher.. Cricket! Why write about a horse? She was dubbed “the Sentinel of the Road.” This swaybacked mare was there every day, on the same curvy road to the Mother Lode Country and Yosemite National Park, until she died at the age of 38. —Rita All proceeds of this book will be donated to NCEFT: National Center for Equine Facilitated Therapy “Horses, Hope and Healing”About the author:Rita Brennan-Leitner is a fourth generation Californian and proud of it. I have written Cricket’s story to commemorate the 20th Anniversary of her passing. Cricket broke up the boredom for daily commuters as they drove home. Rita married Bob Leitner in 1955 and raised 8 wonderful children in Cupertino. In 1989 she moved to Oakdale, California, and drove past Cricket in her travels. Born in San Francisco, later her family settled in San Carlos. I hope you enjoy it
