The Bitterbynde Trilogy hit the best-seller lists world-wide and has been translated into five languages.. She hopes that there she may also find Thorn, the King's Ranger, a beautiful warrior who has won her heart. Shortly afterwards Time-Warner's publishing department (New York) offered her a contract. They published her books in hardcover, the first time they had ever done so with a new author. "Though Imhrien's memory is clouded by sorcery, she must take vital news to the King-Emperor of Caermelor. Attacks by nightmare monsters of the Wild Hunt, led by wicked Lord Huon, grow ever more frequent and brutal. But the truth of Rohain's past will prove more incredible - and far more tragic - than any she could possibly have imagined." Author Cecilia Dart-Thornton was discovered on the Internet. Since no commoner may approach the royal court, Imrhien assumes a new identity as Rohain, a noble visitor from the distant Sorrow Isles. THE LADY OF THE SORROWS The Bitterbynde Trilogy #2 This special, revised edition includes the author's new introduction - in which she discusses the writing of the Bitterbynde trilogy - images of part of the original, handwritten manuscript and copies of some original notes and calculations created while the work was in progress. While the jacket art depicting courtiers against a castle backdrop will help to draw historical romance readers, it gives no hint that the novel is full of mythical creatures and fair folk sure to appeal to fantasy fans. Often second books in fantasy trilogies just trudge along. Imrhien has been cured of her muteness and her facial disfigurement, but she hasn't yet overcome the amnesia that also plagued her in book one. A series of adventures leads to revelations about part of Imrhien's past and yet these same revelations also point to more paradoxes, setting the stage for the final volume. Hopefully, Dart-Thornton will pattern the concluding volume in the series on the second and not the first. After a period of indulging in court life, Imrhien feels the pull to once again travel and try to discover why she can't remember her past. In this

"Beautiful story - Captivating world - High vocab" according to Amber P.. This trilogy is so beautifully elaborate. Even years later, I can't stop thinking about the subtle elements and twists that gave it such a layered ending. Personally, it's better than Tolkien. It's very verbose and extensively descriptive to create such a deep, rich world and later hint at subtle side-plot points or reveal hidden connections that lynchpin major plots. It had me re-reading over and over because I didn't catch nuanced hints driving the beautiful symmetry. Has several of the strongest female lead characters that I've e. Volume 2 is even better than Volume 1 "The Lady of the Sorrows" is the second volume in Cecilia Dart-Thornton's Bitterbynde trilogy. I was worried when the 'ill-made mute' turned drop-dead gorgeous at the end of volume 1, but luckily it doesn't seem to affect the heroine, Rohain's pluck, or her determination to discover her pre-amnesiac past. There is a mounting tension in this book that was missing in the relatively plotless first volume of the trilogy. The author begins to frame the overarching struggle between good and evil. She begins to drop hints as to why it is so. DallasSteph said Loved the First Book, but Not so Much on the Second. I really loved the author's first book, but I felt she lost the main plot in the second book. It was still brillently written, but the when the main character found her past, it convuluted the plot. I began to question whether the basic facts about the main character were acurate from the first book. In the first book the character starts out as a small child, but the second book hints that she was much older at that time? I got confused.
