Marginal editions of three great, classic books mtndweller These books are classics and some of the best of Beverly Cleary. I haven't met a child who didn't like them. However, this edition seems lacking on two fronts. First, the paper is not the quality I'd expect for the price. It looks and feels more like the paper within a mass-market paperback, rough and grey, and I expect it to yellow in time. Second, as others have noted, the illustrations are not those of the original editions. This is disappointing, and I wonder what happen that Harper couldn't use the originals. That said, I must compliment illustrator Jacqueline Rogers for keeping a simple, playful tone with her pen and in. "Ready for a new generation to love" according to Southern Amazonian. I loved these books as a child, and was excited to get them for my niece on her birthday. I wish there were more books like these… All of the Beverly Cleary books are classics. I loved visiting the neighborhood in Portland where these books were set and getting a feel for what life was like for these kids in the 1950s and 60s! A more innocent time.I like how Henry has such compassion for his dog and takes good care of Ribsy. A good role model for kids today.. "Love these books!" according to bamamom52. Loved these books as a child. I read them to my daughter. Got these for my 6 year old granddaughter and she loves them, too.
