Too many characters I wanted to like this book and was excited to read it. As some one who lived and worked in Berlin before the wall came down it was right up my alley. Indeed the plot is a worthy one but I found there to be too many characters and too much unnecessary dialogue making it a laborious read.. "Th good german" according to Monika. It was very well written ! It was an interesting time in history and is told from American reporter who used to live in Berlin before the war ! ! He knew these people before the war and returns for a story, but now finds that he never really knew anybody as well he thought ! He is trying g to solve the murder of a young American soldier and finds many more interesting facts trying to solve the puzzle of why the soldier died !.
