DESCRIPTION:
The investigation has continued full-time for more than 10 years, the biggest in the history of the WA Police. But what about all those other young women in Western Australia who have not been seen for yearsare they also victims of the Claremont serial killer? Debi Marshall looks critically at the police investigations and 16 other disappearances in Western Australia. The state of Western Australia was in shock. Claremont is a salubrious suburb of Perth. She talks to everyone involved including forensic investigators, criminologists, the police, the media, and the victims’ parents. There are a number of suspects. And it is now Australia’s longest-running and most expensive murder investigation. Three women disappearing from relatively safe streets without a trace was very disturbing. In the mid-1990s, three girls went missing within a short space of time after visiting nightclubs in Claremont Western Australia. Bodies of two of the three missing women have been found. Controversy surrounding the Claremont killings has not faded with time. The results of her investigations should not be ignored.
A little let down I grew up here in Perth and I will never forget the tension that gripped the city when the girls went missing from Claremont.Debi Marshall spends too much of the book riding on the emotional coat tails of the families concerned. There isn't enough detail about the crimes themselves. Although this could have something to do with the secrecy surrounding the MACRO investigation.A good read if . Poor representation of the inadequacies of the Western Australian Police I chose this rating because I felt that there was little emphases placed on the murdered women and Ms Marshall's chapters on the inadequacies of the Western Australian police was bland. More indept information on the police personalities involved should of been given because if you do not live in Western Australia you will loose interest in the scant information given on the Western Austral. A very sad book. I thought I knew a lot about A very sad book. I thought I knew a lot about the Claremont murders but realised there was also a lot I didn't know. The killer is still out there somewhere and I think young women should read this and be aware there are also a lot of women who are still missing in and around Perth and no-one can explain where they have disappeared to, be careful when travelling home alone. I feel so sad fo
