Like a bad soap opera I can't even bring myself to give it 2 stars. I know this book is in some ways "important" to gothic literature but it is one of the worst books I have ever read. I give every book I pick up a fair chance but this was just plain unreadable, even if you read it as a comedy. When I finished it I just sat there and thought "what kind of a bumbling idiot wrote this tra. Vic Massagila said Foundation of Gothic Writing. An important book which influenced many of my favorite gothic books from the 19 century. It's dated, for sure, but interesting nonetheless.V. Five Stars Amazon Customer Good book
