DESCRIPTION:
Beautiful arrangements I bought these solos with piano accompaniment for me and my son to play at Christmas. The arrangements are beautiful--haunting and unusual, and more challenging than most simple Xmas music we've found. But they're not too difficult. I'm not a great pianist, and there are some pieces I can actually play fairly well. And they're fun for me to practice--the accompaniments are beautiful on their own.The solo parts are not too difficult, and written in keys that sound nice on trumpet. We also appreciated the CD with recordings of the pieces.. "Just OK." according to Frank Snyder. While perhaps it is fair to say I was persuaded by the name, the music is definitely beginner for trumpet, and, marginally intermediate for the piano. Truthfully, the only "arrangement" is on the piano side of the score, which of course is beautiful. The trumpet (accompaniment) portion is straight quarter/ half notes. Since, like most sheet music, it is classified until you purchase it, it leads one to believe there is something special about the trumpet part. It's not. Open any hymnal, from most any church, and what you see is what the trumpet accompaniment part is. Far. Warning! Warning. Most sellers selling this publication used do not understand the very title indicates there must be two booklets, one for the trumpeter and one for the pianist. You don't want to order this without first confirming that the complete set will be sent. The trumpeter cannot play from the trumpet cue notes in the piano book. He must have his own separate part. Most sellers don't understand this and worse won't even try to. The last one I talked with seemed to assume somehow the trumpeter could sit on the pianist's lap so they could both read from the same book.
(Brass). Ten newly arranged intermediate level solos of Christmas classics.
