This is the story of Ben's dog, Buster. You don't really need to own a dog to understand this, but if you do have one, then this is even better. Buster has not been trained and the family is tired of the stunts he pulls so, when they do on vacation, they leave him home with grandpa. Ben is worried that grandpa will not know how to take. "Grampa can help get Buster straightened out!" according to Paul Mastin. Buster is a pretty good dog--for the most part. When it's time to go on vacation, though, Ben's parents decide that Buster won't be coming along. He gets to stay with Grampa for the week. Ben is quite concerned about Buster's care, and leaves lots of notes for Grampa, as well as sending postcards from vacation with tips and reminders.The one thing Ben forgot: Don't take Buster to the post office!
