My husband and I were planning on going to the big island and, although we had a GPS, I wanted a map that we would use to mark the places we wanted to go while we were on the plane (something to do to pass the 10 hours in the air! :) this map turned out to be a Godsend! we were on the Big Island for 8 days and wore this map out! we did a lot of touristing and this map was really helpful! Not only did it show towns, roads, etc., it also showed points of interest that came in very handy! It also showed the lava flow. Mrs. Magpie said From a map junkie: this is an EXCELLENT map. Bought this for our first visit to the Big Island. We circled the island, hiking here and there and visiting beaches and parks, and this was the ONLY map we needed. Everything is shown here, from the major roads to the minor ones, with enough magnification of the cities to find your way around easily. All of the beaches and state parks are shown as well as museums and historical sites and even some touristy stuff like where the Mauna Loa Macadamia Nut visitor center is located :)Even better: natural features not s. Perfect! The map's quality is awesome. Not flimsy or easily torn. BETTER than the free maps at car rental places and AAA. VERY detailed. We chose this because Google maps and our GPS don't show 'the big picture'. Nothing beats an old fashioned paper map and this one is the best. MANY details marked; insets of the volcano area, towns, etc. Also makes a nice wall poster after the trip is complete!
