Magneto vs the Red Skull S. H. Wells Collecting: Magneto (2014): #7-12Bonus: 4 pages of sketchesIn the previous episode ( Magneto Volume 1: Infamous ), Magneto's past as a holocaust survivor influenced his decision to take up the mantle of defender of Mutantkind. Magneto's solo series continues down a dark road as Magneto attempts to dismantle an illegal Mutant Growth Hormone ring. MGH is being harvested from the corpses of mutants murdered in something of superpowered dog fighting ring. The depths of human depravity fuels Magneto's rage as he follows the trail to a modern Auschwitz run by the Red Skull on Genos. A solid entry in an excellent series, slightly sidetracked by a line-wide mega crossover This is a very good series. The first volume was extremely strong, and this is more of the same. Whether you agree with his viewpoint/methods or not, Magneto is a very interesting character, and Cullen Bunn has a solid handle on him. This is a great portrayal. This volume basically picks up where the last one left off, with Magneto on his own trying to fulfill his role as the self-styled savior of mutatnkind. The first two chapters feature him taking on manufacturers of MGH (mutant growth hormone), which gives ordinary people mutant powers, but at the expense of the mutants wh. Magneto was right. Great read. Has some mind games involved so it's a good idea to take your time with it. At the end it definitely makes you want to get the next volume in the series.
