Well-written, but huh? The "Change" novels (as opposed to the "Islands" novels) have always been a little questionable to me. At times, they are incredibly enjoyable (the first couple especially), but the last few haven't impressed me as much. The impending building of a sense of magic hasn't really sat well with. Better than the last one I guess Staylor I was once a huge fan of the Change series. A few years ago I could not wait for the first of September so that I could get plunged back into the unique postapocalyptic work that Stirling has created. That being said, I bought this book out of sheer obligation rather then actual desire. The. Five Stars gordon A Good read, should read the preceding novels first, but it does stand on its own

Stirling is the author of numerous novels, both on his own and in collaboration. M. S. . A former lawyer and an amateur historian, he lives in the Southwest with his wife, Jan

Rudi Mackenize, now Artos the First, High King of Montival, and his allies have won several key battles against the Church Universal and Triumphant. Artos and his Queen, Mathilda, must unite the realms into a single kingdom to ensure a lasting peace. If the leaders of the Changed world are to accept Artos as their ruler, he will need to undertake a quest to the Lake at the Heart of the Mountains, and take part in a crowning ceremony—a ceremony binding him to his people, his ancestors, and his land.  Then, once he has secured his place and allegiances, Artos can go forward, and lead his forces to the heart of the enemy’s territory.. But still the war rages on, taking countless lives, ravaging the land once known as the United States of America
