DESCRIPTION:

I really wanted to like this book I really wanted to like this book. I wanted to find a new series to add to my collection. I watched the movie and it was, in my opinion, entertaining. The book was just okay. It was one of those rare instances where the book was worse than the movie (The Princess Bride and Gone Baby Gone). I found the writing truncated. Jack Reacher - for an educated person, spoke in too many 2-3 word sentences. Not sure who edited the book but many of the ideas, conversations, etc. were obviously from a British perspective. People from the US simply don't use certain words or phrases.I finished the book and the ending actually was very good. Sadly, I'm. A good beginning to the Jack Reach series, but there are some troubling signs Pzmk I decided to reach this book after watching the Jack Reacher movie starring Tom Cruise. I found the main character to be interesting and I haven’t read anything in this genre in quite some time. If you’ve seen the movie and liked it you will probably like the book, as the basic plot (Jack Reacher, loner but very capable good guy) and characterization of Jack Reacher is very similar. Just like the movie, Jack takes on the “bad guys” and makes them pay. In the end it was a decent plot with a couple of twists, though I was able to figure out the scam way before the book reveal, and you will too if you pay attention . Philo-sophia said Keeps you interested until the end.. Enjoyable. Although, at times I found myself questioning detective Finlay’s credentials. I know the setting is some backwoods town in Georgia, but I hope that normal police procedure and common-sense are practiced in this town. For example, the police find a phone number in the shoe of one of the men murdered (I won’t give away his identity) and are surprised when Reacher asks them if they’ve called the number…they didn’t. Seriously? Why would you wait until a civilian suggests you do that if you don’t have the ability to tap the phone company for information?Anyway, this is a typical Reacher novel w
