Found some parts of the book slow but overall it was a very good read.. and gave me a new respect and love for my ancestors I purchased this book because I am descended from Acadians, and in fact, a couple of the families mentioned inside. The places mentioned were familiar to me from reading family history reports. This book helped me understand how really tough these people had it, and the incredible hardships they faced, the fears, the constant movements, the steady uncertainty. Dry pedigree sheets do not give one any idea of all that happened, so this book was eye opening, and gave me a new respect and love for my ancestors. It was well written and informativ
