I would highly recommend it. Jo I had a copy of this book that I took when I visited my granddaughters. One granddaughter in particular wanted me to read the book over and over again to her. Since I wanted to take the book home with me to read to all my grandchildren, I looked for another copy on Amazon. I was able to find a copy even though the book had been around for a long time and send it to my granddaughter for her own personal copy. She continues to ask my son and daughter-i. "Bilingual and Bicultural" according to Ann Azuma. This is a beautiful and colorful re-telling of the Japanese folktale, Issunboshi, in English.The oni, monsters in the story are pretty scary-looking, but my five- and seven-year-olds find the story exciting. The costumes and setting are from ancient Japan (Heian period,) and thus show another kind of kimono than that we often associate with Japanese tradition.
