Great read I found this book to be stimulating and very understandable for a layman's point of view. As an attorney Steven has written a clear and concise explanation of the events that occurred during the trial and death of Jesus Christ. The history behind the Jewish laws and traditions which ultimately led to the death of Jesus Christ should be fascinating reading for people of all backgrounds. I particularly enjoyed understanding how those in power at the time abused their own sys. Ok. The cover promised to open 'the eyes of Randy Peterson Ok. The cover promised to open 'the eyes of even the most learned scriptorian,' -- which I don't claim to be. But having read books by Skousen, Nibley and McConkie I expected to work to uncover new insights. Before I reached even the Table of Contents, in Allen's 2-page description of the cover picture, I learned two significant things I didn't know before. 1. Pontius Pilate was on probation from Tiberius Caesar for having allowed rebellion by the people in two previous as. apbadd said A lot better than O'Reilly's Killing Jesus. If you read Killing Jesus and found it to be lacking in many (or every) ways, then this is the book for you. I read this and gained a lot of interesting knowledge regarding the times when Jesus was on the Earth and why the trial of Christ was meant to be even though according to Roman and Hebrew law it should not have happened.
