MochaOnyx said which I love. Story-wise. Truthfully, I buy Dahlov Ipcar's books for the illustrations. She is an artist, first and foremost. As always, the pictures are absolutely delightful and have that retro, mid-century feel, which I love. Story-wise, it's not my favorite. I like that it discusses a lot of different, specific animals, but I personally would prefer an eco-system based discussion over captivity (zoo, pet store, etc). However, I realize the book is a product of its time.. The book was super dope, when I read it I felt like Hunter B.
