I read it to my 8 year old son at bedtime as well and we all enjoyed it. I recommend this book for 7-12 year old children.. Ariel Lin said Exciting easy read. The story of Hiccup in the book was totally different from the ones in the movies. I have to admit that I like the book more as Hiccup was more of an antihero and Toothless the Common or Garden was more fascinating than a heroically cute Nightfury, AKA, Black Cat With Wings.Though the Vikings in he book train dragons, they didn't really know about them.
