DESCRIPTION:
John Chalinder said Highly recommended for anyone serious about choppers and biker art. A great book for an old, retired tattoo artist like myself.Arthritis took me out of the tattoo business, but I still like the look of the old school choppers. Now I can turn my art skills to doing illustrations for biker magazines. The book has a brief history of the chopper; and, a nice touch, a section on how to draw sexy babes to drape decoratively on them.. bike drawing for any level of artist This book is perfect for an entry level artist as well as someone who has been drawing for some time. I've been sketching choppers for a long time, more seriously in the last few years, and I'm thrilled to see how much this has to offer me in the way of disciplining my process. It also covers the basics such as perspective, bike construction, and other aspects that are of value to anyone interested in drawing bikes. This is true for the fine artist/painter, the cartoonist, or the enth. A little too cartoony for my tastes. I suppose this book is good for someone who is new to drawing. Most of the pictures are a little on the cartoony side. It explains basic drawing concepts like perspective, proportions, line width, etc. which is good for the beginner.I'm a seasoned artist and I guess I was hoping for a book with more diagrams and better explanation of the various parts of a chopper for more technical-oriented book. I bought this book on Amazon because it was cheap even though I've never seen the book
Now, best-selling Motorbooks author and award-winning car designer Thom Taylor shows enthusiasts of all artistic levels how to draw these rolling heavy-metal sculptures, whether for fun or as concepts for their own dream bikes. After a brief history of the chopper, Thom covers the selection of tools and equipment before explaining fundamentals like perspective, proportion, reflections, and shadows.. Roaring into mainstream consciousness with their rakish style and V-twin power, choppers have captured the public’s fascination
Daily Post (UK), July 28, 2006“This is a most invaluable guide to getting those first sketches right.” American Car World (UK), September 2006 “Cracking artwork in there, both of actual chopper designs and some cartoon stuff, which emphasizes the fun aspect.”
