Annag Chandler said Some charm but little value. I gauge a design book by how many pages I dog-ear or scan for an idea book -- this one clocked in at three. I found very little to differentiate the houses from any generic magazine. While it has a subtitle of "simple southern style", if the houses weren't identified by locale, you would be hard-pressed [except for the Savannah and the Louisiana houses] to pick these out as "southern" instead of standard American traditional. It's headed for the charity shop; not worth space on the bookshelv. Eric M. said Charming All Around. From the moment I discovered the elegant and, yes, charming fabric pattern on the case, hidden beneath the jacket, I knew this book would be full of delightful surprises. One of the especially wonderful things about this book is that the author, Susan Sully, makes you re-avaluate the basic concept of 'charm.' She successfully illustrates that it can apply to a very wide range of residences, both large and intimate in scale, and both historical/antique-filled and bracingly modern in interior . I was hoping to be inspired but instead was disappointed.
