I liked how she portrays the African-American women as strong and tough. However, there were quite a few cringe worthy moments written in reference to Kenneth's character. It was like she was trying too hard to convince the reader that Kenneth was this rich white guy who grew up around black people and some of our 'blackness' somehow rubbed off on him, that he wascomfortable in our cul. Read It! Where has this writer been? I have not finished this book yet, and I am giving it 5 stars.
