Loved the Plot - Hated the Voice! OutlawPoet So, I'm thinking it must be me, but I simply didn't love this book. Now, to be perfectly honest, I didn't read the first book in the series. However, I don't think that was the problem for me.While I largely enjoyed the plot and the historical details, which were fantastic, I simply hated the style. What started as cute soon became grating. I . "A generic teen drama with horse-drawn carriages instead of cars" according to Silea. Really, if you did a find/replace to change all the 'period' bits of this to make them modern (cars instead of horses, high school instead of the palace, etc), you could slap a generic YA novel cover on it and no one would notice.
