DESCRIPTION:
Newly updated, Botany: An Introduction to Plant Biology, Fourth Edition provides an current, thorough overview of the fundamentals of botany. The topics and chapters are organized in a sequence that is easy to follow, beginning with the most familiar -- structure -- and proceeding to the less familiar -- metabolism -- then finishing with those topics that are probably the least familiar to most beginning students -- genetics, evolution, the diversity of organisms, and ecology.
"A great overview on plants" according to Laurence Chalem. Clearly written, occcasionally humorous, I highly recommend this accessible reference book. I'm sure the average person knows that plants convert water, sunlight and carbon dioxide into oxygen and carbohydrates; but, I wonder if they know how exactly it works or where it all happens. And, exactly, what is an herb? Of course, an herb is a simple plant with no secondary characteristics; . Myegan Griffin said Fabulous. This book was just what I asked for at a great price. I couldn't ask for anything more.. BEAUTIFUL BOOK!!! I love this book. The book is well written and a joy to read and refer to. The drawings and photographs are very clear and in color. I really like the photos through the microscope. It also has a good overview of the chemistry needed for botany. This is my favorite botany text.
