McGrath, professor of theology, ministry and education, and head of the Centre for Theology, Religion and Culture, King's College, London)"Continuing the exploration of the mystery of the Son of God begun in Incarnation, Torrance turns his attention in this second volume to the work of the incarnate Savior, with the purposiveness, analytical penetration and spiritual lucidity which mark him out as one of the most weighty dogmaticians of the modern Reformed tradition." (John Webster, professor of systematic theology, University of Aberdeen)"A worthy sequel to Torrance's magisterial lectures on the incarnation, this book takes us through a series of major themes in Christian theology with immense authority and clarity. Throughout this book, Torrance powerfully conveys the meaning and significance of the deep mystery of Christ's death on t

Outstanding A. Morgan This is the companion book to `Incarnation' and in a similar fashion its contents have been complied from the notes of the late Thomas Torrance, comprising of over 25 years of lectures given to students in Christology at New College Edinburgh. As with the first volume, this is really a remarkable work. Torrance takes you on a journey through the theology of the atonement, examining it from every possible angle. As you read through this book you soon realize two things; Firstly, this is theology at the very highes. One of the most stunning books I've read Stephen Morrison T.F. Torrance is not for the faint of heart with his complex thought and scientific mind, but in every way everything he writes is worth the time. This book is no less the same. It has single-handedly grounded my perspective on the Atonement, along with my eschatological perspective, and Incarnational mindset. This book, along with the former volume on the Incarnation, have both dramatically shaped my thinking in regards to the Gospel of Jesus Christ. I highly recommend both volumes. These books are worth their . Still reading. I have not finished this yet but I am really enjoying the read. The Trinitarian perspective, that God is three distinct persons in One Godhead, Their unity of purpose, will, and love for humanity is so spot on. Our inclusion in God from before we were even born, from before the universe was created & that They will draw us into Their love is clearly expressed in this book. Gods character of being other centered, not self centered was & is a thought I could not comprehend until starting reading this book.
