"I enjoyed this book a lot" according to Caryn. I really enjoyed this book. I don't understand why it got so many negative and mediocre reviews. The writing was good. I enjoyed the alternating point of views and how all their flashbacks unraveled the layers of the story little by little. I thought it was a quick easy read. I'm going to read Wendy Lee's other book.. Soulless potboiler This was a hard novel to get through. Firstly, there are a lot of flashbacks in this novel. Sometimes flashbacks of flashbacks of flashbacks. I couldn’t concentrate because as soon as you thought you were moving forward, you kept going back, then back. Like a dance move, only a superbly annoying dance move. The flashbacks were about the same stale theme: the tension within the family. Over and over, you’re given examples of this, but it doesn’t develop or go anywhere. Then, there are flashbacks of the same incident from different characters’ perspective. It’s tedious reading and ma. "Ok" according to Book fan Annie. Inner struggles of each family member had to cope and deal with.Answers make the characters understand why burdens are carried.
