He sets a good atmosphere - you feel present in the scenes he describes - and the character dialog is intelligent. He's a "good read" in my opinion, an author I'll go back to. The only complaint I have is that the book I received from Amazon was not the new paperback I ordered but a hardcopy edition - an old, used hardcopy edition judging by the yellowed pages and occasional food stains inside.
